Northridge High School
Two inspiring junior girls by the name of Mirandah Popp, and Ronni Fleshman are fighting to bring in a show choir in their high school. They believe it will bring in a kind of ‘welcoming’ feeling for those in the school who have a talent for acting, singing, and dancing. Popp had stated recently that school year that ‘it had been a dream of mine for as long as I can remember to have a school show choir, the amount of great talents we have in this school is astonishing, and show choir would really bring out the best in them.’
The idea had started once the students had to do an English project about what would make the school better. They both had the same idea for a show choir for a while, so once they got the opportunity they took that time to organize an idea for the show choir they both greatly wished to have. They had to put together a whole entire project. Including a power point, a whole paper about it, and then they had to present it to their 7th period English class. All the other students in the class also had to write a change for the school and present it. They all voted at the end of the week of who would go to the school board with their project and try to get it to happen. Luckily Popp and Fleshman were a part of the kids who won. Along with a few other groups, they are going to try their hardest to get their idea through to the school, and have their dreams of a show choir come true.
‘It wasn’t hard at all to get it together; it was more of a fun game, than a project.’ The girls claimed. They agreed that this project is only a start to more things they wish to change. The girls want to bring forth a large program for the ‘Talents of the Stage’ for all of the people in their school who wish to get into larger things than just plays, and choir. They want every student in their school to have the opportunity to become so much larger with their talents than they believe they can do.
The student’s English teacher had stated, “'Ronni and Mirandah definitely did a lot of leg work to thoroughly explore their options. To me, it sounds like a good idea and they are two people that could definitely make that kind of change happen.” Fleshman and Popp have been working hard on getting their idea through. “We have already so many great ideas of what we want, and how to make it happen. We are too excited to let this chance slip through our fingers. We will make this happen,” Fleshman states.
The board meeting will be taking place on Monday, December 16th, 2013 in the Media Center of Northridge High School. The students will be presenting their project hoping to make a positive change for their beloved school.
